Reliving July in August

I thought I would post some more of my favorites from my last session. My beloved laptop crashed a couple of weeks ago - so I have nothing new to show. But here are a few that were edited before and survived the crash.

I just love the mother/daughter interaction in the background. They were coloring while I was photographing the baby, and I thought it was a sweet moment.

I know this has been done. But for me the classics always ring true.

Here Mom and Daughter were playing "Red Light, Green Light". I caught the cutest expression as she was waiting for the green light.

Oh boy am I behind! Well, let me see what I can dig up for you all.

Here is a self portrait I did in the 5th (my birthday). I was playing around with applying make up and airbrushing in photoshop.

And here is a recent of my baby boy...

So the reason I have not really accomplished anything as of late is because I got a new action I am having fun with. I am still tweaking, trying to figure out if this is something I can really use (or if it is just for fun). Here is an example of the before and after.

In Bloom

These were part of my Valentine's Day present. When Hubby brought them to me there were no blooms to be found. On Friday I woke up to this!

I brought the Tulips into my kitchen to get the blue background and some natural light from the skylights. They are so pretty!

The sun then went behind a cloud, making everything a bit cooler.

Then just as quickly came back with dramatic, intense light.

All in all I got some very different images out of one still subject!

Another self portrait. I can't decide which version I like better. I tried to leave the color one kind of dark. On the b&w I dodged the hair on the right side a bit to bring out some highlights.
Settings: 50mm @ f 1.7 / iso 200 / ss 1/60

And here is one of my Kiddo. I didn't do anything with the color except bump the curves a bit. It seems to have a bit of a color cast - a lot of my images come SOOC this way. Is there a way to avoid that; is it an exposure issue or a camera trait? Puzzling to me...

It was hard to get this one exposed properly. Kiddo's face is pretty blown out and wasn't really in focus. I like it though because you can tell Hubby is being goofy! 50mm @ f 2.5 / iso 200 (I think, maybe 400) / ss 1/80

Kiddo's Captures

So many of you requested, so I have pulled some of the best from the lot (and the one's that show less of the messiness of my house!) from the pics my Kiddo took yesterday. He had so much fun with that camera that he ran the batteries down completely in one day (I usually change them every couple of months!).

Anyway, here they are...

There were a LOT of up-the-nose shots! lol!

Yesterday I was having trouble with photoshop (I think it had something to do with some spyware on my computer) so I was not able to submit anything. I took tons of pictures of stuff other than me, but none of them turned out the way I wanted. SOOOO - I am sorry to say you have to suffer through yet another self portrait. I'll try to get something more interesting up soon. The weather here has just been yucky and therefore I have been unmotivated for picture taking. I am so sick of shooting in 1600 ISO. Blech!

This was shot at 1600 ISO, f 1.7, ss 1/8 (YIKES!) It was dark!

I've been taking a self portrait every day and after a few days with the snap shot camera, I switched over to the dslr. These are not very technically correct, but I like them anyway.

So here is my entry for 1/5/07.

Taken with the 50mm, F 1.7/ 200 iso/ss 1/13 - really slow! It was on AP and I was trying not to wake my Kiddo. We were sick. :(
